The State of Design’s 2010 Public program is being used as a platform to promote Melbourne based shoe makers Preston Zly.
Shoe makers Preston Zly invite you to the screening of the The Red Shoes (1948), a film that has provided endless inspiration to the studio.
Directors Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger turn Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale into a movie about a ballerina who has to choose between the man she loves and dancing for her pedantic impresario. Often considered one of the top ten British movies of all time, The Red Shoes is a film about the impossibility of changing human nature.
Meet in the Preston Zly car park for a screening in your favourite red shoes. All red shoes worn to this event will then form part of a photographic installation.
Shoes makers Johanna Preston and Petr Zly of Preston Zly create contemporary shoes using old world craftsmanship and traditional techniques that are inherently environmentally sustainable. Preston Zly shoes represent the meeting of the handmade with design and new technologies.
Preston Zly are pleased to be partnering with Leona Edminston “Pins” who will be providing luxurious opaque tights to all that attend and Lindt chocolates.
